❛ stay safe, i love you. ❜
little did robert know that those would be the last words abigail would hear from her father before her ascension into the teleporter. stay safe: don’t press the wrong buttons, make sure your suit is on tight, make sure the pod is secure. i love you: you are the pillars upon which my temple stands–without you, i would crumble and be ruined beyond repair. YOU ARE MY EVERYTHING.
robert situated himself near krei alistair and the general, only higher above them. not too close, but close enough to be within earshot of the operation. he was nervous, but he kept his composure. he helped BUILD these things. he knows how they work–but krei doesn’t. a businessman who cares only about money and looking good. he doesn’t trust him fully, yet, but abigail did. and he knows she has good judgment, so instead he placed his trust in her.

the momentary warning that krei was given would have perked robert’s ears if they could. eyes widening, he leaned forward for his hands to grip the steel bar in front of him. he wanted to shout something, but they had already prepared to launch abigail into the portal. only a split second later did abigail enter the portal.
he was determined, there was no doubting it. nervousness was not absent, however; confidence in his microbots and strength was a given, but the feeling of vulnerability in such a shady part of san fransokyo left him uncomfortable. he was good at keeping himself away from the public eye, but considering he hasn’t been down here since… well, it’s been a long time.

his information had lead him here, to a particular neighborhood where crime was common, but never justified. thankfully, some street lights were broken or smashed, relaxing him just slightly in knowing that there may not be many people to see his mask well enough to recognize it later on.
with his microbots trailing as quietly as possible, yokai held in his hand a paper with the scribbles of the last person to have seen shego. but with a loud clash in the distance, and after a startled yokai dropped the paper, his microbots were left to bring their user closer to the sound, purposely staying in the shadows in waiting.
Callaghan is one of the biggest carnivores in San Fransokyo, not to mention a big coffee drinker. While he does actually like broccoli, he would take a steak or hamburger over even a salad with sliced chicken on it. His meals aren’t large, as he has the discipline to stop eating when he knows he’s full. He’s not a big fan of Burger King or McDonald’s, but he would still eat a lot of meat. Unfortunately, this is the biggest factor in his risk for cardiovascular disease.

While he normally doesn’t talk about it, Callaghan is actually very good at sketching things. He’s a visual and kinesthetic learner, and while he may not be able to build something right away, having a pencil and paper near him will give him an outlet that he uses solely for work nowadays. You may not find him sketching very often, but if you found his pile of old sketchbooks, you’d find them full of machinery and robotic recreations(some colored in with crayon by Abigail). But every few pages, you’d find drawings of his wife and Abby, and they were pretty good in his humble opinion.
Another hobby of his is video games. He doesn’t have a lot of time for them anymore, nor does he hardly ever play them now, but he played them the most with Abigail. He excels in first person shooters, a skill he’s not afraid to brag about.
He’s also pretty boss at billiards.

“Professor…” Tadashi hovered at the doorway, feeling more awkward as the seconds ticked by. Better judgement–the part that realized he was just a student and, as Callaghan’s inferior–told him that he should probably do as he says and leave, but concern kept the young inventor’s feet planted. Something was wrong. It was evident in everything Professor Callaghan did for the past two weeks–his body language, his speech, even his lectures. Tadashi had tried to turn a blind eye to it, but he couldn’t bare to see him struggle so quietly.
“I might be overstepping here, but– I’m worried about you,” he begins. It’s hard to ignore how weird this feels, but Tadashi reminds himself that no matter how high the pedestal he places Callaghan on is, he’s still a human being. He has emotions and needs just like anyone else. He isn’t perfect, nor is he unbreakable.

“I just wanted to make sure that you’re okay.”
robert knew that the quality of his teachings were diminishing. he wasn’t trying his best because he couldn’t try his best. he was exhausted during the day, but sleeping was a troublesome task, instead filling the time with work; grading papers, building powerpoints, anything to fill the hole in his chest. but his attempts at forgetting that moment were futile, as the memories continued to show themselves at the worst times.
he had accepted her death so effortlessly. at first, it just felt like a dream, but it took almost no time to admit by tongue that she was, indeed, dead. gone. lost forever. without even a body to bury. she has a gravestone, but it does nothing for him–the only thing he’d be talking to is a lump of stone with carvings in it. after the first few days of visiting, he couldn’t even find it in himself to visit the cemetery anymore. what was the use?

he squeezed his eyes shut as his student spoke, giving them a careful rub after he had finished. he didn’t even attempt a smile for tadashi as he swiveled around in his chair–in fact, he couldn’t even look him in the eyes. running a hand down his face, he let out a shaky sigh before he responded.
❛ …thank you, tadashi. i haven’t
exactly been myself lately, have i?
thank you… for noticing. ❜
